This is interesting news for all those who are keen on learning little pieces of history, particularly World War II history.
A Second World War Supermarine Spitfire belonging to the British Royal Air Force has been pulled from the Irish peat bog it crashed into 70 years ago. Along with it, six machine guns and about 1.000 rounds of ammunition were also discovered by archaeologists in the Inishowen peninsula in Co Donegal.
Apparently, the British fighter plane was piloted by an American, Roland "Bud" Wolf, who parachuted safely from the aircraft before it crashed in the bog.
More details can be found in the Belfast Telegraph.
